Description
Robert Donnelly was born in Dublin, Ireland, 27 April 1760. He emigrated from Ireland to America at the beginning of the Revolution, possibly as early as 1774, with John Barry. He settled first in Albermarle County, Virginia, then moved to Rockingham County, Virginia and Wilkes County, North Carolina. In 1816, he settled in what is now Johnson County, Tennessee. He married a widow, Eve Sevely Brown (ca. 1755-1806) in 1789 in Albermarle County, Virginia. She had eight children by her first marriage. Robert and Eve had 2 sons and 2 daughters. After Eve's death, Robert married Frances or Frankie Adkins Jennings, also a widow, in 1807. They had one daughter. Robert died suddenly in Battleham Gap on Iron Mountain in Johnson County. He was buried in the Wills Cemetery on the Laurel. Descendants lived in Tennessee, Oregon, and elsewhere.

John Barry was born in Ireland and emigrated to Virginia about 1774 with Robert Donnelly. He married Margaret Cook in Virginia in 1785. They had 6 children. Descendants lived in Virginia, Tennessee and elsewhere.
Description
Rev. John George Butler of Cumberland, Maryland, is the earliest know ancestor of the Johnson County, Tennessee, Butlers. He had at least one son, George W. Butler, who was born 5 April 1780 in Maryland. George was reared and married in Virginia. He was a graduate of a German university and a school teacher. He married (1) Margaret John (1784-1815) and (2) Nancy Ann Leith (d. 1859). Descendants lived in Virginia, Tennessee and elsewhere.
