Notes

Description
Three Joseph Hardins lived in the old Lawrence County, Missouri Territory/Arkansas Territory, and one was the great-great-grandfather of the author, Colonel Joseph Hardin (1784-1826) of Davidsonville. The other two were related via collateral branches of this Hardin family. The father of Colonel Joseph Hardin (1784-1826) was Benjamin Hardin (d.1848), a Revolutionary War soldier and pensioner, who died in Independence County, Arkansas. The grandfather of Colonel Joseph Hardin was also named Benjamin Hardin (d.ca.1801) of Logan County, Kentucky, who commanded a company of North Carolina militia during the Revolutionary War. Family and genealogical data about descendants appears chiefly in the appendix. Colonel Joseph Hardin married (1) Margaret (Peggy) Johnson and (2) Ellen ?.
