Description
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Barrett families whose ancestors, the Baireids came to Ireland during the Anglo-Norman invasion. They formed a clan after the Irish tradition, and settled in Tirawley during the 13th century. The clan held much of the territory in Cork, Mayo, and other Irish counties. Some later Barretts immigrated to England with the Huguenots. Barrett registries show many families living in Cornwall, Derbyshire, Devon, Essex, Hampshire, Kent, Lancashire, London, Middlesex, Norfolk, Surrey, Warwickshire, and Wiltshire (England), Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Some descendants left England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales to settle in Alberta, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Ontario, Prince Edwards Island, and Quebec (Canada). Others settled in Australia and New Zealand. Still others moved to Alabama, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, Oklahoma, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Virginia, and elsewhere. Additional information may be found on their web site.
