Description
John Phillip Gabel was born in 1698, the son of Johan Jacob and Maria Margaret Gabel of Rabach, in Zweibreucken, the Pfalz, Germany. He married Elizabeth Catherine Cullman, daughter of Heinrich and Maria Barbara Cullman, in 1735. They had six children, two born in Germany. The family immigrated to America in 1739 and settled in Upper Salford Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. He died there between 1774 and 1779. His son, Captain John Phillip Gabel (1739-1809), married Margaret Bittel Gouckler (1724-1802), a widow widow with eight children, in 1766. They had one son born in 1768. He was a captain of the first battalion of the Philadelphia County Militia during the Revolutionary War. Record chiefly follows line of descent to his great grandson, Percival Kemerer Gable, who was born in 1860 at Skippackville, Pennsylvania, the son of Jesse Gable (1815-1874). He married Ella J. Kulp in 1885. They had three children, 1887-1889.
