Description
Birmingham Monthly Meeting was set up in 1815 from the Concord Quarterly Meeting. It included the Birmingham Preparative Meeting and the West Chester Preparative Meeting. The Monthly Meetings were held alternately at either Preparative Meetinghouses in Birmingham Township or in West Chester. In the Separation of 1827-1828 the properties were retained by the Hicksite group, however the Orthodox group used the buildings until they built their own meetinghouses in 1845 in Birmingham Township and in West Chester in 1830. Monthly meetings from 1828-1858 were held entirely in Birmingham and from 1859-[1955?] held entirely in West Chester. In 1964 the Monthly Meeting was merged into the West Chester Monthly Meeting.
