"In the late nineteenth century, Dr. William H. Egle (1830-1901) recorded [Gustav's middle name] as Sigismund, which subsequent writers carried forward. No known documentary evidence supports Egle's assertion. He was apparently mistaken even though he knew Peters personally. Peters' birth entry record at Langebrück Evangelical Lutheran Church lists the singular name Samuel. In his well he refers to himself as Samuel and G. Samuel Peters."--Page 3.

"Gustav Samuel Peters was born at Langebruck newar Radeberg about five miles northeast of Dresden in Saxony, Germany, on January 15, 1793, to Ernst Gottlieb (1750-1821) and Anna Rosina Zscheile (1755-1816) Peters."--Page 3.
