Description
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Cook and related families who came mainly from England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. Some immigrated ca. 1600 to Connecticut, Massachusetts, Michigan, and New York. Among them was Henry Cooke (ca. 1605-1661), who left England for Salem, Massachusetts before 1638. Henry married Judith Birdsall in June 1639, and died in 1661. Some focus is on (but not limited to) one of Henry's descendants, named Phineas Wolcott Cook (1819-1900), the son of Phineas Cook (b. 1786) and Irene Churchill. Phineas W. Cook was born in Goshen, Litchfield County, Connecticut. He was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1845, and joined the Latter-day Saint migration to Utah. He had four wives, i.e. Ann Eliza Howland (1823-1896); Amanda Polly Savage (1836-1915); Catharine McCleve (1836-1869); and Johanna Christina Poulson (1845-1929). His children were born in Idaho, Michigan, Nebraska, and Utah. In Utah, their family lived in Manti, Logan, Payson, Goshen, Salt Lake City, and other towns. Later descendants also lived in Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, and elsewhere.
