Periodical for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the McConnaughey (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from England, Ireland, and Scotland. Some immigrated to Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania in the 1700's. During the 1800's, some moved to Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Ohio, Oklahoma, Virginia, and West Virginia. Later desdendants also lived in Australia, Northern Ireland, Pakastan, Taiwan, and in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Iowan, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New York, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and elsewhere. Some had Cherokee Indian bloodlines. Includes reports of births, marriages, and deaths of contemporary members. Some adoptions are noted, and some separated families being reunited are featured.

The McConnaughey Society of America was founded in 1961, by Patricia Ann (Pat) McConnaughay Gregory, assisted by Samuel Chalmers McConahey, Kenneth Earl McConnaughay, Stuart Alyn McConnaha, and others. Annual gatherings have been held in Indianapolis, Indiana since 1976. The Society was incorporated in 1977 as a non-profit organization. The Society collects, extracts, indexes, preserves, and makes available vital information about McConnaugheys (and all variant spellings) from baptismal records, bibles, cemeteries, censuses, death records, deeds, marriage records, letters, military records, members' shared research, and other sources. In 1963, The "McConnaughey Society of America annual bulletin" was first published in 1963. They also publish a monthly newsletter, "Disa & Data Letters," and other books.
