Description
Bulletin for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Shoop (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from Germany. Some allied families came from England. In the 1600s, some immigrated to Connecticut and New York. In the 1700s, some settled in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. During the 1800s, some moved to Mexico, and to Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, and Utah. Some focus is on the descendants of the immigrant ancestor, Henry Shupe (ca. 1704-1788) of Heidelberg, Baden, Germany. His son, John Shupp married Lisa or Luza Fargueson. Descending lines include David Shoop, Henry Shoup, James Wright Shupe, John Whetstein Shupe, and Andrew Jackson Shupe, and others. Some joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and moved to Utah in the late 1800s. Descendants also lived in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, Wyoming, and elsewhere. Information was transcribed and extracted from local, county, state, and federal record sources, such as: census records, church records, land and property records, military records, probates, and vital records.
