Leonard settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and worked as a ferryman for Thomas Cresap. He later moved to Frederick County, Maryland, married twice, and moved about 1765 to Stokes County, North Carolina. Francis Moser I was a son of Leonard, and John Moser Sr. was a son of Francis I.
