General Note
A history of Jamestown, VA, which was founded in 1607 and the history of the Graves family in America. Thomas Graves arrived in VA in Oct 1608 and was the first known person named Graves in North America. He served as a member of the First Legislative Assembly in America in 1619 and moved at that time to the Eastern Shore of Northampton County, VA where he was active in civic affairs. He made several trips back to England and had 3 children there. Captain Thomas Graves died between Nov 1635 and 1636.
