Numbering Peculiarities
Volume and issue number designations begin with vol. 5 (1990). Vol. 22 no. 1 (winter 2007) was misprinted as a second vol. 21 no. 4 (fall 2006). Notice from editor directs readers to correct numbering on their hard copies.
Description
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Prall (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from Belgium, England, Denmark, France, Germany, Holland, Ireland, and Normandy. Some were French Huguenots; some were Walloons. Focus is on (but not limited to) descendants of Arendt Jansen Prall (ca. 1647-1725), and his wife, Maria Billiou (b. 1650), the daughter of French immigrants, Francoise Du Bois and Peter Billiou. Arendt and Maria settled in New Amsterdam (New York) in 1660, and had nine children, namely Peter, Mary, Frances, John, Barentje, Arendt, Sarah, and Martha. They lived in mainly in Kingston and Staten Island, New York . In the 1700s, Prall families also settled in Canada, Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. During the 1800s, some moved to British Columbia, New Brunswick, and Ontario (Canada), and to Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Later descendants and relatives also lived in Cuba, and in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Wyoming, and elsewhere.
