Description
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Leonard (variant spellings) families and their allied families who came mainly from Germany, and immigrated to America. Focus is on the ancestors and descendants of John Paul Leonardt, also known as Valentin Leonard (1718-1781). Valentin was the son of Martin Leonardt and Anna Barbara Shohn. He immigrated from Rotterdam (Holland) in 1746, and married Elizabeth Wallacher in 1747, probably in Pennsylvania. Their eight children were born from 1748-1758, namely: Peter, Barbara, Michael, Valentine Jr., Catherine, Elizabeth, Philip, and Jacob. Valentin and Elizabeth's family lived in Davidson County, North Carolina. Some children intermarried with other German families who had settled Davidson County, and later moved into Lincoln County, North Carolina, including the Bringle, Clodfelter, Fritts, Hoover, Kistler, Lutz, Rhyne, Seagle, and Wacaser families. Some later families also lived in Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and elsewhere.
