Description
Patrick Townsley (b. 1802-1886) was married to Janet Elliott and it is presumed they immigrated to Canada from Carmoney, Antrim, Ireland. They settled near Montreal, in Lachine. After the death of his first wife, Patrick Townsley married 2) Mary McGirr in 1848 and 3) Mary King in 1862. Mary King was Catholic and some of the family converted from the Presbyterian Church. Descendants from all three marriages lived in Quebec, Montana, California, Ohio, Washington, Missouri, and elsewhere. (Patrick moved his family to the United States in 1853, but returned to Canada in 1854. Many of his children either remained in the U.S. or returned later.).
