Description
Cretain Maximillian du Bois (1626-1696), a Huguenot, son of Cretian du Bois of Wieres, France, and his wife, Catharine, were married at Manheim, Germany. They immigrated to America and setted at New Paltz, New York. He died at Kingston, New York. His grandson, Isaac du Bois (1691-1729), married his cousin, Rachel du Bois. They had four daughters, 1715-1724. The family migrated to Perkomen, Pennsylvania. Their daughter, Catharine du Bois, married 1) Joseph Hopewell at Philadelphia in 1737. They had two children. After his death, she married 2) William Millar (d. ca. 1778) at Philadelphia in 1743. They had five children, 1744-1755. He died in Shenandoah County, Virginia. Descendants listed lived in Virginia, Ohio, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Kentucky, Washington, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Georgia, West Virginia, Illinois, Mississippi, Oregon and elsewhere.
