Description
This work is " ... a genealogy of the descendants of Donald McCall ... --P. 8. Donald McCall, of Scottish descent, " ... was born on the Isle of Mull"--P. 18 in 1735. "In the year 1756, Donald and his companion enlisted with the Forty-Second Highlanders, under the command of Colonel Wolfe and were with General Amherst's army at Louisburg, C. B.in 1758."--P. 33. He went to America where he served against the French and also the Indians in the Great Lakes region. "The greater portion of the years 1761 and 1762 was spent in barracks in Philadelphia, before completing their seven years' service."--P. 35. After being discharged from the military, he went to New Jersey eventually settled in Baskinridge, Somerset County, in about 1864. Donald married Elsie Simpson in 1763 or 1764. In later years, as a Loyalist, he settled in Upper Canada where he died presumably at Charlotteville in 1818. Descendants and relatives lived in Canada, New Jersey,Oregon, Arizona, Washington, Michigan, Ohio, New York, California, Georgia, Utah, Illinois and elsewhere.
