Description
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Stockman (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from Belgium, England, France, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Poland, Prussia, Rumania, Russia, and Scotland. Includes records for many of their related families, also. Many Stockmans came from Nassau-Siegen in the town of Burbach, Germany, such as the family of Frederick Stockman (1749-1838) and his wife, Katherine Dispponet (1771-1834). Another immigrant ancestor was James Stockman who left Ireland for Pennsylvania in 1765. Many other ancestral lines are included. Some Stockmans immigrated to Nova Scotia (Canada), Barbados, Massachusetts, and Virginia in the 1500's-1600's. In the 1700's, some settled in Maryland, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and South Carolina. During the 1800's, some moved to New Brunswick (Canada), Australia, Mexico, South America, and to Alabama, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, the Mississippi Territory, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, the New Mexico Territory, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington D.C., and Wisconsin. Later descendants also lived in Colorado, Michigan, and elsewhere. Information includes baptisms, births, and deaths extracted from cemetery records, census records, gravestones, land records, military records, obituaries, passenger records, Social Security Death Indexes, and other official records from the United States, Germany, and elsewhere.
