Roger Williams (ca.1604-1684), was born in London, the son of James and Alice Pemberton Williams. He married Mary Barnard (d. 1676) 1629 at the Church of High Laver, Essex, England. He and Mary arrived in Boston, Massachusetts in 1631. They were parents of six children, all born in America (in Plymouth, Salem, and at Providence). One of their daughter's, Mercy (1640-ca. 1705), married (1) 1659 Resolved Waterman (1638-1670); and (2) Samuel Winsor (1644-1705). Richard Waterman (ca. 1590-1673), one of the earliest settlers in Providence, and father of Resolved Waterman, was born in England. He came to Salem, Mass. in 1629. He was married to Bethia White, who died at Providence in 1680. Samuel Winsor, the second husband of Mercy Williams Waterman, was the only son of Joshua Winsor, the original immigrant.
