Description
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Canfield (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from England, Ireland, and possibly Germany. Some focus is on (but not limited to) descendants of Phineas Canfield and his children: Thomas, Satyra, Jesse, Noyes, Elizur, Content, Betsy, and others. Prior to 1780, they lived in Durham, Connecticut, and moved afterward to Durham, New York. Descendants of his son, Noyes were born mainly in Indiana, and later moved to Iowa. Another Canfield progenitor was Abiram Canfield, the grandson of Thomas Canfield (Campfield) who settled in Milford, Connecticut, in the late 1640s. Abiram married Ruth Washburn (1696-1717). In the 1700s, Canfields lived in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Vermont. During the 1800s, Canfields settled in British Columbia, Nova Scotia, and Ontario (Canada), and in Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, Washington, Washington D.C., West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Later descendants also lived in Alabama, California, Florida, Maryland, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and elsewhere.
