Description
John Shearer (b.ca1792) was born in Pennsylvania. He married Isabelle McCoppin (d.1853). He sold his home at Hagerstown, Wayne Co., Indiana in 1866. Their son James Hopkins Shearer (1817-1864) married Elizabeth Starbuck (1819-1874), the daughter of John Starbuck and Beulah Garrett of Grayson Co., VA in 1844. Family members went to Randolph Co., Indiana in 1834, where he married Elizabeth. Their son William Johnston Shearer married Mary Jane Sumwalt in 1846 in Randolph Co. He died in 1850 of Cholera. They were the parents of Robert S. Shearer. Several genealogical questions are explored and several generations of descendants are given.
