Numbering Peculiarities
Vol. 1 has 8 quarterly issues; later volumes have 4 each. Volume and issue designation changed to date-only with the fall/winter 1979/1980 issue. Whole numbering begins with no. 62 (fall 1985). Numbering errors: No. 108 (spring 1997) was misnumbered as no. 107.
Description
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Linder (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from Austria, Baden, Bavaria, England, France, Germany, India, Prussia, Scotland, Sweden, Switzerland (especially Gsteig and Saanen, in Canton Bern), and Wurtenburg. In the 1600-1700s, some immigrated to Kentucky, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. During the 1800s, some moved to Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma (Indian Territory), Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin, and West Virginia. Some focus is on (but not limited to) descendants of the following ancestors and their wives: Martin Linder and Salome Werren; Simon Linder and Anna; Wilhelm Linder and Maria; the Swiss immigrant, Simon Linder (b. 1680) and Margret; Ezekial Lofting Linder (b. 1750 ) and Jennie; Joseph Linder (b. 1815) and Margaroth Lutz; Lamander Ervin Linder (1823-1921); Lewis Linder (1828-1908) and Catherine Garvin Tatum; Rev. James Lee Linder (b. 1840) and Martha Jane Lipscomb; John Henry Linder (1848-1919) and Sarah Margaret; Jacob Linder, Jr.; John Simon Linder, a great-grandson of the immigrant, Simon Linder; and others. Later families also lived in British Columbia (Canada), Barbados, England, France, and in Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Michigan, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Utah, and elsewhere.

Issuing Body
The Linder Family Association or Southern Linders Family Historical Association was founded by Bill Linder in 1966. It also was known as the Southern Linders, and the Linder Research Club. Various divisions or branches comprise the Association, such as: Lewis Linder Division; Alamander Ervin (A.E.) Linder Family Division; Lee (Rev. James Lee) Linder Division; Ezekial Lofting & Jennie Linder Family Organization; Joseph Linder Division; John Henry Linder & Sarah Margaret Linder Division; Jacob Linder Jr. Division; Nathaniel Linder Division, and others.
