Samuel McGuire was born ca. 1796 in Pennsylvania according to the 1850 census of St. Clair Co., Ill. He died in 1858. He married Nephany (Jackson) Farris (179?-1856) 1822 in St. Clair County. She was born in Kentucky to Joel Jackson and his first wife Nancy Caldwell. Samuel and Nephany had eight children born between 1823 and 1847 in Illinois. Nephany had been married first to James Smith Farris (d. ca. 1821) with whom she had two sons. Descendants live in Illinois, Kansas, Oregon, Oklahoma, Missouri and elsewhere.
