Description
Robert Allen (1813-1892) was the son of Samuel Allen (1790-1838) and Letitia Cochran (1791-1851) of Castle Finn, County Donegal and of Crew Church, County Tyrone, Ireland. Robert and his cousin William were the first to emigrate to America in 1833, as they were about to be arrested for opposing the "Papist" persecutions. He located at Prospect, Butler County, PA, in 1836. Robert married Mary Agnes McLure in 1837. She was the daughter of Robert McLure (b.1790) and Mary Agnes McLeod (b.1788) of Scottish ancestry. They farmed 600 acres at Isle, on the Venango Trail. Descendants are located in Butler, Lawrence and other counties in Pennsylvania.
