Description
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Towne (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from England, and settled in Salem, Massachusetts in the 1600's. Main focus is on (but not limited to) the descendants of William Towne and his wife, Joanna Blessing, who emigrated from Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England ca. 1635-1640, and settled in Salem, Massachusetts. They had eight children, Rebecca, John, Susan, Edmund, Jacob, Mary, Sarah, and Joseph, three of whom were involved in the Salem witch trials. Other Townes and related families also lived in Connecticut, Georgia, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Vermont in the 1700's. During the 1800's, some lived in Nova Scotia, Ontario, and New Brunswick (Canada), France, and in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Later descendants and relatives also lived in Alberta (Canada), England, Scotland, and in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Washington D.C., and elsewhere.
