Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Hight (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from various villages in the regions of Donaukreis, Heidelberg, Jagstkreis, Karlsruhe, Loerrach, Mosbach, Neckarkreis, Oberhessen, Offenburg, Pfalz, Rheinhessen, Schwarwaldkreis, and the states of Baden, Bavaria, Hessen, Prussia, and Wurttemberg in Germany. Focus is on the descendants of immigrant ancestor, Johan Justus (Jost) Heyd (or Hite). He and his wife, Anna Maria Merckle (Mercklin) settled in New York in 1711, and moved to Pennsylvania in 1714. Jost Hite led a 16-family colony from Philadelphia to the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia in the fall of 1731, where many of his children established their families, building their homes, the historic Bowman grist mill, and the Belle Grove Plantation. Other descendants and relatives lived in Kentucky in the 1700s. In the 1800s some moved to Ohio and West Virginia. Later descendants also lived in Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Missouri, Mississippi, North and South Carolina, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and elsewhere.

The Belle Grove, Inc. is a nonprofit organization administered by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
