Description
John McClure (ca.1696-1757) and his sister, Jean, immigrated in 1715 from Scotland to New Castle County, Delaware. John married Janet McKnight in 1720, and about 1732 moved to the Cumberland Valley (then in Lancaster County, later changed to Cumberland County), Pennsylvania. Descendants and relatives lived in Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio and elsewhere. Includes a listing of McClure (McLure) individuals and families in the first federal census of 1790 (listed under states and counties of residence).
