Description
John, possible son of Michael Caffey who died about 1754 in Dorchester county, MD, may have been born about 1729 in Maryland. He died about 1785 in Guilford (now Rockingham) county, NC, where his will is on file. Estate papers of John Caffey in the North Carolina Archives refer to his widow Nancy and say that she is the step-mother of Michael. His first wife's name was Suffiah or Sophia. Ludwick Iseley immigrant ancestor of the family which settled in Orange (now Guilford and Alamance) county, NC. He was born in Germany and immigrated to Pennsylvania during the first half of the 18th century. His widow and seven sons relocated to Guilford county. Jonathan and Rachel Ireland and their children, Samuel, John and Abednego were formerly of Caroline county, MD. Later they were located in Guilford county, NC and Fayette county, KY.
