Description
"The Jackson family which is the subject of this book was traced to what is now Brunswick County, Virginia - Halifax County, North Carolina ... Between 1722 and 1726 four of the early settlers in this area were Ralph, Ambrose, John, and Thomas Jackson ... John and Thomas are very likely candidates as their names do appear in later generations and many dates and facts suggest Thomas." (p. 1). Because of this uncertainty about the exact ancestry, the general format of this book is unusual, in that it deals with the author's immediate family first, and later chapters deal with the Jackson and other families in the designated area in Virginia and North Carolina.
Description
The immediate family are descendants of Ephraim Jackson (ca.1755-1827), who married twice and lived in Brunswick County, Virginia. Ephraim was a son of Thomas Jackson (d.1804) and either Sarah Harwell or Susanna Randle Jackson. The relationship between Thomas Jackson (d.1804) and Thomas Jackson Sr. (d.ca.1737/1738) is unknown. Descendants and relatives lived in Virginia, North Carolina, West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio and elsewhere.
