Description
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Autry (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from England, France, and Scotland. Many came from Autrey-les-Gray in France. One early ancestor was Cornelius Autry, Sr. (1720-1779) who emigrated from France and settled in Edgecombe County, North Carolina. Some focus is on (but not limited to) a descendant of Cornelius, Henry Milton Autrey (1860-1951) and Sarah Lucy Kelly (b. 1864). Both Henry and Sarah were born in Pine Hill, Alabama, and their were all born in Sunny South, Wilcox County, Alabama. Their children were Selester Jane Finley, Percy Page, and twins Levy Lee and Leavy Autrey. Another notable ancestor was Micajah Autry (b. 1793) who married Martha Wyche Putney, and built an historical home in Autryville, North Carolina. Some Autry ancestors immigrated to North Carolina and Virginia in the 1600's. In the 1700's, some settled in Alabama and Georgia. During the 1800's, some moved to Egypt, Japan, and to Arkansas, California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. Later descendants also lived in the Azores, Mexico, and in Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, and elsewhere.
