Description
Samuel Jackson Sr. was a Quaker descendant of Ralph Jackson, who was burned at the stake as a martyr in 1556 at Stratford, England. Samuel Sr. was born in Ireland, and immigrated to North Carolina. Samuel Jackson Jr. and his brothers, Jacob and John, all Quakers, moved from North Carolina to Rocky Fork, Ohio as early as 1801. It was Jacob Jackson who moved from Clinton County to Highland County in 1803. Similar pioneer stories are told about the other families listed in the title. Most of the family history deals with the nineteenth century, although some of the stories deal with the early twentieth century as well. Includes Jackson, Gorman, Garmen, Higgins, Thornburg, Johnson, Garrett, Morgan and related families.
