Description
Ludwig Handshie/Hanshu/Handschu (d.1817) was the son of John Handshie/ Handschu and Catherine (unknown), of Hanover Twp., Northhampton Co.. PA. He married Anna Regina/Rosena Kohler/Koehler(1769-1839). She was the daughter of Gabriel and Maria Elizabeth Kohler. They raised five children in Northampton County. Their son John Handschu (1795-1865) married Elizabeth George (1799-1864) in 1817. She was the daughter of Henry George and Eva Snyder of Northampton County. They moved after their marriage, to Guilford Twp., Medina County, Ohio. A son Benjamin (1819-1891) married Sarah Anna Fox (1826-1913). Benjamin's son, Charles D. (1869-1949) married Malinda M. Freidt in 1891. A daughter, Angeline (1865-1944) married John E. Fulton in 1884. Another daughter, Elmyra Elizabeth (1861-1929) married Jacob Koppes Wolf in 1881. Several generations of descendants are given. The family were of the Lutheran faith. Descendants are living in Ohio, Virginia and elsewhere.
