Description
Ferdinandus VanSicklen, was born in Ghent, Belgium, in 1635. He later emigrated and settled near Coney Island, New York. It is believed that he is the ancestor of all American VanSickles. He married Evan Jansen, the daughter of Anthony and Grietje Jansen. Most members of the family moved about 40 miles west into New Jersey near Somerville. A descendant, Wynekoop VanSickle, migrated west and in 1813 married Martha Tweedy at Brookville, Indiana. In 1833, they moved to Edgar County, Illinois. Includes several generations of ancestral history.
