Description
Johann Gottfried Schilling (1802-1881) married Anna Rosina Lange in 1822 at Langmeil, Prussia and, as Lutherans, were subject to religious persecution by the crown princes or kings of Prussia. Eventually they joined with other Lutherans and decided to immigrate (via England) to Adelaide, South Australia in 1838. They soon settled at Klemzig, and in 1842 moved to Angaston, also buying land at Moculta, South Australia. Descendants and relatives lived in South Australia, Western Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, Northern Territories and elsewhere.
