Description
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Alton (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from England, Germany, Northern Italy, Ireland, Scotland, and Switzerland. Some settled in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Vermont in the 1700's. During the 1800's, some immigrated to New South Wales (Australia), and to Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Utah, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Later descendants also lived in British Columbia, Manitoba, and Ontario (Canada), Australia, Bougainville Island, Germany, Gibraltar, Northern Ireland, Malta, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Rabaul, South Africa, Switzerland, and in California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oregon, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and elsewhere.
Issuing Body
The Alton-Allton-Aulton Association was founded in 1992. Their newsletter continues the work begun by Lois Vivian Burke Allton and Wilma Stine Davis in the "Allton - Alton Association family newsletter," published 1973-1980.
