Description
The Williams, Burton and Stafford families appear to have been living in North Carolina as early as 1800 and to have come from Maryland before that time. The Philby/Filby line was in Pennsylvania by the early 1700s and emigrated south to South Carolina in the early 1800s where they remained for most of the nineteenth century before again heading west to Kansas and Colorado. In 1916, Arthur Elmo Williams (1878- 1947) married Mable Alice Filby (1896- ) in Colorado; thus joining the two lines.
