Description
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Seelye (and Seely) families who came mainly from England. Some immigrated to Connecticut and Pennsylvania in the 1700's; some were Puritans. After the Revolutionary War, some moved into Upper Canada and Ontario. During the 1800's, some moved to Arkansas, California, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Pennsylvania. Some became members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and migrated with the Latter-day Saint pioneers to Utah. Focus is on the descendants of Justus Azel Seelye and his brother, Orange. They were sons of Justus William Seelye and Sarah Stewart. In 1800, Justus Azel married Mehitable Bennett in Luzerne, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Amos and Anna Duncan Bennett. In 1858, Orange married Sarah Olsson, a Swedish immigrant. The brothers, Justus and Orange took their families to settle Mount Pleasant, Utah. Sometime later Orange, Don Carlos, and J. Wellington Seely II moved from Mount Pleasant to Castle Dale, Utah. Other Seelye lines are also covered, including those in Alberta and New Brunswick (Canada), Australia, and New Zealand. Later descendants also lived in Spain, and in Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Idaho, Maine, Oregon, Texas, Washington, Wyoming, and elsewhere.
