Description
John Bales was born ca. 1640 in England. He immigrated to America ca. 1675 and settled in Salem, New Jersey. Later, he moved to Delaware County, Pennsylvania. His descendants moved westward through North Carolina and Tennessee prior to their settlement in Indiana. Alonzo L. Bales was a descendant of John Bales. Alonzo was born ca. 1684 and became the Judge of the Randolph Circuit Court in the state of Indiana. He married Martha Jane Foutz and later married Emma Engle. Descendants of Alonzo Bales lived in Indiana and elsewhere.
