Description
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Stanley (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from England and Ireland. In the 1600's, some settled Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Virginia. Some were Quakers. In the 1700's, some settled in Georgia, Kentucky, Maine, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Vermont. One primary ancestor was Thomas Stanley, who founded Hartford, Connecticut. Another was Sir Frederick Arthur Stanley, the originator of the famous Stanley Cup awarded to hockey champions. During the 1800's, some Stanley families moved to Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Later descendants also lived in British Columbia (Canada), England, Germany, the Philippines, Thailand, and in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington, Washington D.C., and elsewhere.
