Each volume has 8 quarterly issues published over 2-3 years, except for vol. 5 which had only 6 issues published 1992-1994. Numbering errors: vol. 10 no. 8 (July 2004) was misnumbered as vol. 9 no. 8.

Double issues: Vol. 6 no. 1/2 (Oct 1994/Jan 1995) and vol. 6 no. 6/7 (Jan/Mar 1996) were double issues.

Misnumbering: Vol. 10 no. 8 (July 2004) was misnumbered as vol. 9 no. 8; vol. 11 no. 1 (Oct 2004) was misnumbered as vol. 11 no. 9.

Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Strother families who came mainly from England. Focus is on the ancestors and descendants of William Strother I (ca. 1630-1702), who left Northumberland, England ca. 1650, and settled in Millbank, Virginia. Millbank is in Sittenborne Parish on the Rappahannock River in Old Rappahannock County, later known as Richmond County, and now known as King George County. Millbank is near the present-day Port Conway. Around 1651, William married Dorothy Savage, the daughter of Captain Anthony Savage, ca. 1651. Their children were William II, James, Jeremiah, Robert, Benjamin, and Joseph. Many descendants remained in the Rappahannock River area of Virginia, near Fredericksburg. In the 1700's, other Strothers settled in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. During the 1800's, some moved to Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Washington D.C. Later descendants also lived in Luxembourg, and in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Washington, West Virginia, Wyoming, and elsewhere.

The Society of the Descendants of the Immigrant William Strother of King George, Virginia, was organized in 1984. It conducted its affairs under that name until 1992, when the Society was incorporated and adopted the legal name "William Strother Society, Inc." The Strother Foundation, Inc. was incorporated separately in 1996 as a non-profit, tax exempt organization. Memberships, indexes, and other information is available on their web site.
