Description
The Janke family appears to have originated in Poland and then moved to Plotzk, Bessarabia in southern Russia in the nineteenth century. In 1879 Christoff Janke (1828-1918) and his family came to America and settled in first South Dakota and then North Dakota. Descendants live in California.
