Description
Periodical for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Mock (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from Austria, Bohemia, England, Germany (especially the Neckar region), Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Scotland, Switzerland, and the Ukraine. Some were Palatinate immigrants. Some belonged to The Church of the Brethren. Many settled in Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia in the 1700s. During the 1800s, some moved to Ontario (Canada), and to Alabama, California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Ohio, the Oklahoma Territory, Texas, and West Virginia. Later descendants and relatives also lived in China, Saudi Arabia, and in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Idaho, Maine, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and elsewhere. Some have African American bloodlines. Some information is given about their slaves and freedmen.

The Mock Family Historian is an organization of researchers established in 1990. Betty E. Dittig serves as the editor / publisher of their newsletter, "The Mock Family Historian." Their organization emphasizes the preservation of historical documents, especially colonial and pre-civil war records, with focus on all spelling variations of the surname, Mock and any connections and interrelationships between them.
