Description
Some Crawford families, who started out in the Waxhaw settlement, Craven Co., South Carolina at the time of the Revolution. The Chester County line (author's direct line) later migrated to Arkansas and Texas ; the Lancaster County line later migrated to Tennessee and Texas; and the York County Crawfords later became Illinois Crawfords. Some families are entirely unrelated to the author. The earliest known ancestor of the author, James Crafford (ca. 1720-1777), was born probably in Ireland, and died in Waxhaw. Some of his children were born in Pennsylvania. Descendants and relatives lived in Florida, South Carolina, Texas, Arkansas and elsewhere.
