Description
Thomas Howell Holmes was born in 1832 in Hamilton County, Ohio, son of Samuel DeWitt Holmes (1803-188) and Mary Frazer. He married Isabella Gilbreath who was born in Fairfax, Wisconsin in 1843. Ancestry is traced to the following families: John Holmes who immigrated to Pennsylvania from Ireland ca. 1740-1760; Thomas Frazer, a native of Inverness, Scotland, who immigrated to Pennsylvania ca. 1783 and later moved to Ohio, husband of Agnes Kenney (1774-1833); Daniel Morrison, a native of Ireland who immigrated to Pennsylvania, and died ca. 1795; George Henry, born ca. 1737, who came to Pennsylvania ca. 1755 and married Margaret Young (1742-1801). Ancestors lived primarily in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, Kentucky, Illinois, and Indiana, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Louisiana with some from Massachusetts and Vermont and other places.
