Description
Geerd Schievink Meinders (1794-1863) was born at Hesepe, now Norhorn, Germany. He married Enne Meinders (1798-before 1832) in 1818 in Germany. They had four children, 1819-1829. He married 2) her sister, Harmtjen Meinders in 1832. They had seven children, 1832-1846. He died at Hesepe. Several of his children immigrated to the United States. Hendrick/Henry Meinders (1823-1876) immigrated to to Ohio in 1855. Geert/George Meinders (1834-1827) immigrated to Ohio ca. 1862 and later settled in Massac County, Illinois. Gerrit Meinders (1839-1902) immigrated to Ohio before October 1869. Harm/Herman Hindrick/Henry Meinders (1844-1929) immigrated to Ohio before July 1844. Gerdje Meinders (1846-1888) immigrated to Ohio before 1870. She married 1) Geert Washing (1837-1874) and 2) Claus Ficken (1841-1920). Descendants of Geerd Schievink Meinders listed, especially those living in the United States, lived in Germany, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana and elsewhere.
