Description
George Smith Patton, Jr. (1885-1945) was born in Lake Vinyard, California to George S. and Ruth Wilson Patton. The family was steeped in military tradition which had begun with an ancestor fighting at the Battle of Falkirk in Scotland. Georgie, as he was called by his family, eventually became famous as the World War II general known as "Blood and Guts." His ancestors had fought in the American Revolution and Civil War on the Confederate side. Georgie's parents eventually moved to California where his father was a lawyer and involved in politics and, where Georgie was born and raised. Georgie married Beatrice Ayer and they were the parents of two daughters and a son. His Son, George S. Patton IV, entered into military service, thus continuing the Patton family military tradition. Descendants live in the United States.
