Description
The Ford family originally of England. Three brothers, Richard, Daniel and Elijah Ford, came from England ca. 1774/75 and settled in Virginia or Maryland. Descendants in this book are through Richard Ford (1755-1809). He was apparently in Cecil Co., Maryland, when he married Mary Gillis (d. 1808), daughter of Henry Gillis of Ann Arundel County. Family appears in Cecil Co., Md. census of 1790, and by 1800 they are listed in Red Lion Hundred, New Castle Co., Delaware census. About 1809, a year after the death of Mary Gillis, family moved to Ohio.
