Description
Ancestors and descendants of John Penfold (1844-1901), son of Abraham Penfold and Elizabeth Wells. He was born in New Harmony, Posey Co., Indiana. He married 1868 in Peoa, Utah, Elizabeth Thacker (1852- 1912), daughter of William Thacker and Rachel Tonks. She was born in Willenhall, England. Both died in Driggs, Idaho. They had eleven children. The immigrant ancestor, Abraham Penfold (1781-aft. 1826), and two of his brothers, Isaac and Jacob, were among early immigrants to Edwards County, Illinois in 1818. Abraham Penfold was born in Puttenham, Surrey, England. He was the son of Abraham and Mary Penfold. He married Elizabeth ? in London. Their six children were all born 1805 through ca. 1815 in London, England. Abraham died in New Harmony, Indiana. The earliest known ancestor, George Penfold (d. 1794), married Ann Toft, daughter of Abraham and Mary Toft, 1751 in Peperharow parish. Descendants live in Idaho, Utah, Oregon and elsewhere.
