Description
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Yonges (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from England and Wales. Many descend from the Welsh Yonges of Brynyorkin and Tudor Trevor. Focus is on (but not limited to) ancestors and descendants of Rev. Christopher Yonges (d. 1626), the vicar of the Church of St. Edmunds in Southwold, Suffolk County, England. He married Margaret ca. 1600, and had five children, including Revered John, Captain Joseph, Christopher Jr., and Martha. They first immigrated to Salem, Massachusetts ca. 1638. In 1640, they founded Southold in the County of Suffolk. Southold was the first English colony in the State of New York. They also established the First Presbyterian Church of Southold. Their descendants and other Youngs also lived in Nova Scotia (Canada), and in California, Connecticut, Florida, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and elsewhere.
