Description
Lilly was settled ca. 1800 and was also known as Lilly on the Bluestone. In the 1940's, it was a community of about 50 families when the area was surrendered to the Federal government for the Bluestone Dam control project. The buildings and cemetery were either destroyed or relocated.
Description
Robert Lilly may have been the son of another Robert Lilly who may be a descendant of the French family of DeLisle or DeLille. Robert married Mary Frances Moody around 1760 and had at least 8 children. The family moved from the Dublin-Pulaski area to the Bluestone River area around 1800. Robert and Fanny died after 1817 but before 1820.
Description
Accompanying the Robert Lilly family on their move to the Bluestone was Josiah Meador II and his wife Judith (Lilly). Josiah was born in 1758 to Josiah Meador I and his wife Lavina. He married Judith Lilly, the daughter of Robert and Frances Lilly. They had 10 children. Josiah II died in 1845 while his wife Judith died in 1846.
