Description
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Van Voorhees (and variant spellings) families who came mainly from the Netherlands. Some focus is on (but not limited to) descendants of Steven Coerts Van Voorhees (1599-1684), who immigrated in 1660 from the Province of Drenthe in the Netherlands to New Amersfort in New Netherland (Long Island, New York). He married Aeltje Wellels, and later married Willemtje Roelofse Seubering. Special focus on the family lines of his children: Albert, Aeltje, Coerte, Hendrickje, Jan, Jannetje, Lucas, and Merghin Stevense. Early families lived in New Jersey and New York in the 1600's. In the 1700's, some settled in Kentucky and Pennsylvania. During the 1800's, some moved to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wisconsin. Later descendants also lived in Alberta and Ontario (Canada), Chile, Japan, the Netherlands, and in Alaska, Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Washington D.C., West Virginia, Wyoming, and elsewhere. Some have African American bloodlines.
